Bowling for Soup

Okay. What kind of music are these guys classified as, loosely, and what bands are similar to them?

I'm curious because the songs by them I've heard (1985, Emily, Punk Rock 101) <b>ALL SOUND THE SAME</b>

I do not know what is it with this. Do all their other songs sound just like these? These facts alone have made me decide that this is not a band I like.

If you do like Bowling for Soup, why is it?

(I also have found that the two songs by Interpol that I have heard, The Specialist and . . . something else were very similar. I liked The Specialist a lot the first time I heard it, but when I heard whatever the second song was, I was all "wtp, is this the same song?" because the words and the way he sang were almost exactly the same.)

Does this say something for today's contemporary music?

I don't like the music, but they have a hell of a sense of humour.
As for classification, I'd say Generic Pop Rock, if I'm feeling nasty, and Generic Indie Rock if I'm in a good mood.

Sums up what I think completely. All their songs sound alike. I really like "Girl All The Bad Guys Want" though.

I still like them, though, like Traitorfish said, they have a good sense of humor, but yeah, I do get bored of their songs pretty quickly.

Well okay, to be fair for Coldplay it was more like 3 songs rehashed.

On the band in the subject, definitly pop rock/pop punk whatever. I don't particularly care for them, however you could probably have a pretty damn fun time at one of their concerts, if you don't go in with a whole "lol pop punk is gay" attitude. Just go in and piss about and dance and have fun and whatever. Not a band I could listen to over and over again, though.

Well, true, but it's generally assummed that 'pop music' refers to repetitive manufactured drivel, not stuff like the Beatles. Besides, when the Beatles were around, rock and roll was so new it was a single genre, so categories like 'pop-rock' and 'indie' weren't really a applicable.

Bowling For Soup are, artistically, zero. Their music is about as deep as <!--a midget penetrating Briget Nielsen-->*snip* something not very deep at all ~ [Edit by D]. I don't like their music.

The genre would be pop-punk. In their defence, they don't take themselves seriously either and their light hearted and honest approach to their 'music' is in contast to eqully untalented bands who actually try and take themselves seriously.
