I'm stuck in South Figaro

Ok there are possible spoilers so read with caution.

This is my situation.

I got the airship for the second time.

So I took the opportunity to get Mog's Water Rondo Dance.

So I dropped the Airship off in the Veldt and jumped into the water.

It took me to that city(forgot what it was called). This is the stupid part:

I stupidly took the ship back to South Figaro... and now I have no way getting back to my airship... Is their anyway getting back over there?
can you take the rapids back? If so how?

what you have to do is travel around the world. basically do this:

someone in town will say the mountain had opened up and you can now walk across to where the crazy old man's house is (the one you met at the beginning of sabin's sidequest and got shadow).

from there you have to just followo sabin's quest 'til you get to your airship.

The town is Nikeah. Take a chocobo through, across the bridge to the East, all the way around the path you took with Sabin. You'll end up going through (over) the Phantom Forest, and around to the waterfall you originally jumped over with Sabin and Cyan. It'll take you back to the Veldt.

I don't understand... How do I get back to Nikeah??

I don't see any path in the mountains form South Figaro...

It's been awhile since I last played through the game, and I never actually did what you did before, but can I assume that you can't just take the boat back? I would think that was the first thing you tried. Barring that, you may need to go back to a previous save (assuming you have one), as I can't think of any way back off the top of my head.
