Default Don't you just hate school/college?

I actually like my college. But I HATE the computer departments. They've got this rule going in the college, well, it's pretty much the only rule. It's something like: "Everyone has equal rights".

However, wow, this really pisses me off...get this! They've blocked absolutely all access to MSN Messenger. I had previous access via a client downloaded, aMSN, but now they've blocked the connections for that, and the've blocked the words "Messenger", MSN", etc, on search engines.

Now here's the funny part! With all that equal rights bull...well, haha. There's a tech guy, well, supposedly a tech guy, but all he does is sits at his desk, in this very department, ALL DAY, and uses MSN Messenger and watches Family Guy. It's pathetic! Argh! I feel like ripping my hair out. Seriously. It's ironic that HE is the one who's supposed to be doing work, but in an equal rights college, he sits on his ass and uses messenger ALL THE TIME!

    Argh.

What does him watching Family Guy all day have to do with equal rights?

My HSC is over and I'm happy. No more high school. But I suppose uni rears it's ugly head, but for now, it's a very distant head. I'm a happy little camper right now, totally enjoying my life as an "in-between".

Huh? What kind of university does that? Are you talking about on-campus use or dormatory internet access?

I love UCLA. A-division sports, diversity, pretty people, and for once in my life I'm surrounded by intelligent people. Every kid in every one of my classes was "the smart, cool kid" at his/her respective school. Or the charismatic nerd. =) It doesn't hurt that they also throw fun parties at amazing Los Angeles hotspots.

He's a tech guy! He should be doing his job for crying out loud. Not doing his job is one thing. Then seeing him watch Family Guy on one screen (he has a dual-screen monitor) and chat to his girlfriend on the other on MSN Messenger is another!

    And I don't use AIM. ;x

Colleges are not equal rights like they claim to be. Thats why they say for a high percentage of courses you need to have four GCSES's for example, grade A-C. I did not have the GCSE's and so they gave me a test to determine my english and maths level its results was that for english I was at A level and in maths I was between a B and an A so it would be exceptable to allow me on the course. The thing is though the course was fashion and you certainly don't need to have such a high level of english or maths for that course its not at all essential, its just snobbery. What I should really be judged on is my fashion sense. And since as soon as I walked in the place the receptionist commented on how she loved my look, and since everyone immediately guessed that I was the fashion student and kept commenting on how good I looked I think thats what I should have been judged on. The actual tutors agreed with me on this but said its not them who makes these rules. Anyway, I missed the start of the course because I was having an operation and at the start of the course pointlessly, they do a maths and english syllable and the rules state that if you have no GCSE's and you miss this syllable you can't continue with the course so now ive got to go next year Equal rights?, I think not.

I like college. my tutors are really friendly, and unlike my school teachers you can talk to them without feeling awkward or them saying "sorry i dont have time for you now." it really laid back and hardly anyone makes fun out of insulting anyone. Theres no heirarchical structure at college. The tutors respect the student and vice versa. At school the teachers are just an ass.

I guess you're both right. And I agree with both points. Although, you probably have a computing department which you can actually access stuff on. Hah, at my friend's college, you're allowed to look at pr0n. Apparently, you can say it's for educational purposes.

I'm being honest. I have no idea what subject they study porn for in my friend's college, but it's true. I've seen someone looking at it, and teachers going past and doing just about nothing. Well, not that I'd want to look at porn in college myself. IMO, it'd just be embarrasing. ;x

My college/school was ghey...They kicked me out 'cos I fell behind, without once trying to find out what was going and the head of 6th Form was more concerned about his reputation than helping students. Mind you, my teachers weren't too fond of me, but I couldn't really give a damn.

But yeah, my school only recently joined the 21st century and uprgraded to broadband, and they immediately blocked off any form of IM, and they've regulated the sorts of sites you can visit, which is annoying, because it blocks all sites with games available, mild language or anything along those lines.

I guess I should at least be thankful that EoFF isn't blocked. If they block it though, I'll go beserk.

Hah! I keep telling people that, but I think I say it too much. But I guess there's never enough when you live on some kind of prison-island (I mean my country, England; not Australia) that's infested with chavs.
