I didn't like it as much as the play.
They cut a few things out that I wish they didn't.
SPOILER
Such as the "christmas bells are ringing" voice mails.
The fight between Roger and Mark
and they made a lot of the music into dialogue instead of song.
Over-all, it was okay, but I would rather have had a longer movie (by about half an hour) with all the original content.
I also thought the acting on the part of Maureen, which was played by Wicked Star Edina Menzel, could have been better. Mark wasn't that great of an actor. Angel was phenomenol.
I dunno, I'm indifferent.
I'm not a fan of musicals at all and Angel weirded me out.
(SPOILER)
The only part tha hit me hard was when they showed the circle of aids people talking and how one by one they disappeared.
I don't know if I want to see the movie. The show was magical for me. I saw it in New York twice and in San Francisco once... I don't know how I'd feel about a movie version of Rent.

My life idol in every way since August 2000. Watch her perform her new Japanese single live. =)

I normally don't like musicals, but I loved this! I saw it Friday, and after the first ten minutes I thought the movie was going to be really cheesy, but it turned out to be really great after all. I didn't care much for Roger's singing, but that's probably my only complaint about the movie.
Angel was the best character! =)Originally Posted by lordblazer

'Seasons of Love' - Yeah, it's been stuck in my head all weekend.
I really need to see the play after seeing it.
But Angel made the whole movie for me. I just fell in love with her and seeing as I had a friend who reminds me a bunch of her, I was completely (SPOILER) heartbroken by her dying. She just makes the movie and it was hardly worth me watching after she was gone.
But it's so worth seeing.
I'd rather run my arms through a wood chipper than watch either the musical or the movie, so yea. At least in the musical people are actually performing live on stage in front of you, so it has some redeeming quality.
I seriously can't sit down and see Rent after seeing Team America. "Lease" for the win!
There is no signature here. Move along.
Well the movie has some quality int he fact that your hearing the actor's whoare int he movie sing. Its just like the musical except its on a motion picture.Originally Posted by eestlinc
