The reason the 360 is over heating, from what I read, is the PSU overheating and not really the system. This may or may not be a problem depending on how Sony designs the final console.

I also heard it was from overheating, mostly due to people covering the fan or something. Not sure where I read it, but it sounds like, as long as you make sure it's got good airflow, it works fine. Heck, my friend works in the electronics department at Target, and the one there's on a lot longer than most people usually leave a system on, and it's never had problems. However, it's undeniable that there is something inheirently wrong with the design, if there are so many reports of crashing.
Boy am I an unfunny ass.

Yeah, a number of hardware-related problems of this sort have cropped up. The PS2 had it's own set of hardware related flaws on launch that plagued the first few model iterations, but in the PS2's case, the problem didn't rear it's ugly head right away but instead struck after a few months up to a few years of use later.

They'll likely fix the problem and warranty what they can, and just release a new model iteration.

This one guy paid $10k to have it as soon as possible. I can't remember where I read that, but I'll link you to the news story if I find it. That's outrageous.

This happens to like every system. That's why I never buy them right away. I mean hell in a year they'll be $200 and working right. ?

BWWWAAAAAAAAAAAA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA! If that isn't the funniest thing I will hear all day today. The thing not only crashed but I would develop problems of not reading games at all.
