If I'm at work doing SQL queries and whatnot and using a lot of numbers (which is all the time) I user the number pad. If I'm typing mostly text, then I usually use shift+8.
The lack of a number pad is why most laptops suck.

I use shift for everything....didn't even realize their WAS a right side of the keyboard. Wow.....you DO learn something new everyday!

the laptop doesn't give me any chances, but i'm used to pressing "Shift ___" anyway. i'm a slow learner at times...

I never use the numpad because I have to bring my arm over approximately 3.1 inches which uses up 0.0053 more of my body's energy than if I were to use the numbers at the top which means that I will need to get a drink 0.02 seconds earlier and not work to the body's optimum efficiency
