ALthough, it only works in the context of the Soviet Union. The Hammer & Sickel only mean anything about oppression when you look at oppressive left-wing governments. Many people (e.g. me, Cubans, the Third World, Jesus) would see the Stars and Stripes as just a potent symbol of oppression.
It's pretty easy not to get banned. All you have to do is:

Swastikas were a symbol of peace before it was associated with the Nazi party; they changed it's meaning for most people. Just like the hammer and sickle was changed to a symbol of oppression because of the Soviet Union.

Does communism give you the right to make your own decisions? No. Does it give you the right to do with your life what you wish? No. Does it allow you to be responsible for your own life, and be free to benefit from your own decisions/actions? No. Does communism allow for any rational definition of "freedom?" No.
So yeah.
