Thread: I'm thinking of getting a new car.

Default I'm thinking of getting a new car.

Previously I thought about getting that super sexy Nissan Maxima. Unfortunately it starts at just under $28,000 and gas milage is a paltry 20mpg city.

Because I plan to be a teacher in a year and plan on keeping my Safeway job that pays a very good rate, I want an economical car that is feul efficient, reliable, and good-looking enough to look sweet in.

So I narrowed down my decision to two cars: The 2006 Honda Civic Sedan which starts at around 14,400 with 30 mpg city or the 2006 Toyota Corolla CE that starts at just over 14,000 with 32 mpg city.

I love how the Honda Civic looks, especially the cockpit. On the other hand Toyota's tend to be just slightly more reliable with slightly better gas milage and saves me a couple hundred yet still looks decent enough to drive in.

I considered the Chevy Malibu and Fort Escort and such, but they are not nearly as reliable as the two mentioned above. So which should I pick? Other car considerations are welcomed.

How much is the Saab? I never considered it, but is it as reliable as Honda or Toyota? Is it "German-Engineered?"

If you're looking for a brand new Saab then they might be a bit exspensive. They are a bit exspensive to fix but, very reiliable and well worth the money. I know a guy that has 500,000 miles on his 92 saab 9000. Look for a Saab 9000 CS or 900 SE non v-6. Good cars. I picked up a 95 with 96,000 miles loaded for $2500.

Yeah, anything under 17,000 is what I'm looking for. The Saab sounds like a pretty expensive car. My Nissan Altima 1996 was bought in 2001 with 54000 miles for around $5000.
