Maybe we might be able to trust you to fill in the Formerly field, but there's no way we would be able to trust everyone to do so and then there would be total chaos on a board this size if people were allowed to change their name at will.

Staff is so meticulous i never had to fill in the "Formerly: [Insert Name Here]" field. unless you are trying to say - it will become rather an "option" to fill it out once you allow members to change their username and some wouldn't do it at all.
