I also heard it was from overheating, mostly due to people covering the fan or something. Not sure where I read it, but it sounds like, as long as you make sure it's got good airflow, it works fine. Heck, my friend works in the electronics department at Target, and the one there's on a lot longer than most people usually leave a system on, and it's never had problems. However, it's undeniable that there is something inheirently wrong with the design, if there are so many reports of crashing.
