And if you're in Zozo, you're supposed to go that town close to Zozo(name escapes me at the moment)where you'll read Owzer's letter about the opera then you'll go to the opera house in the south. It's pretty straightforward after that.
Vaan - "Hey, you!"
Penelo - "Yeah, you! The one reading this sig at this very moment!"
Vaan - "Interested in playing FFXII International Zodiac Job system?"
Ashe - "But you have no knowledge of the Japanese language?"
Fran - "....We could help...."

Leave Zozo, and go South. You'll run into Jidoor, the rich town with the Auction House and the house house on top of the hill. It's that huge house you want -- after you read the letter and another character is introduced, go farther South to the Opera House.
thanks! its just i stopped playin it for a while whilst i was doing my ff7 debug guide so i lost track of what to do!
