Actually, theoretically the Jelsoft people could use the same kind of new code that puts your new post on the same page without reloading it to check for new posts in a thread after a specified interval and insert them if they were found, so it wouldn't reload the whole page at all. But don't expect me to bother doing all that
You'd still have to load a massive amount of content, especially if it's an active thread like the Ciddies, where people are constantly posting/editing. It would be very annoying, not to mention taxing on the database. F5 is about two inches away from the letters on a keyboard, so I don't see a big problem here.
I click the link back to the forum and click the link to the thread again, because I don't trust the refresh button.
