It's not that they like it, or want to wear them, though they may say they do.

It seems as if you are assuming that people are unable to think for themselves, and that we are all a bunch of idiots who cannot escape from the cluches of mass-media. Sure media does have a grip upon us, but one cannot deny that people can chose to ignore it. I find the stand you are taking are making people seem like fools lacking any capacity for free will.
