Can a heart still break after it's stopped beating?
No, he is the Blue Mage of the party... Not the Red... Red Mages were practically abandonded after FFV...Originally Posted by bbomber72000
Technically both, you can make him do/be so many things its not funny.

heres a tip if you want tons of power. train yuna as a black mage and with me she did about 500 more damage than lulu with every spell.

Just out of curiosity, but what is a Red Mage? I haven't played the older FF's (7 was the first for me)
A Red Mage is a person that can use low and mid level White and Black magic.
Does anyone else besides me think that Kimahri looks like a kitty?
and now that there there on FFXI, they can also enchant and enfeeble, brilliant magesOriginally Posted by ForestOwl

I personally think Kimahri is an O.K. character, not too shabby. He's my "red mage" of my party, since I Lulu-cloned him. On my old FFX Save file he was a blue mage, I Rikku-cloned him :P. So yeah, it's always good to have an extra mage
The problem with Kimahri is he's generally reffered to as the 'can be anyone but not quite as good' character. Saying he's more versatile is a bit of a stretch, because while early on he has an open route to any character, when you start getting special spheres almost any charcter can do that. His overdrives weren't amazing either (nova always did sucky damage for me for some odd reason), and his celestial weapon was an pain to get (I'd say his was the most annoying, followed by Tidus then Lulu).
I wouldn't call Kimahri useless, but he's easily overshadowed by the more specialised characters, and he takes more work to make him effective, which is a turn off for some people.
Kimahri is useful for one very important purpose: fighting Biran and Yenke, both of whom hold Lv. 3 Key Spheres for the stealing. Train him as a Thief, and he will be able to perform Luck on himself about ten times and then steal from Biran 5 times and Yenke 5 times. Combine this with your ability to have a Master Thief armor at this point, and you can steal 20 Lv. 3 Key Spheres, which is enough to open every single Lv. 3 Lock on the sphere grid (if not enough then close to enough). And for this reason, he is more than worth the training, as you will have to either fight an endless supply of Defender Zs or wait until you can have access to the Omega Ruins to bribe a Demonolith. I personally don't like doing either of those.
Kimahri is simply useless cause he isnt an all-around chracter, he is just worthless.
