Is there a place where they seem to hang out? I have been all over the Omega Ruins, and not one
they usually appear not far from the save sphere

I find them in the Omega Ruins, and Inside Sin. These fiends give me another reason to not hate Auron and his Masamune. He deals 10000+ damage everytime he attacks them <3
I seemed to encounter more of them on the right path from the room just north of the save sphere.
Since they use nothing but magical attacks, silencing them makes them harmless. Triple Foul is very handy here. You can also provoke the Spirits that sometimes accompany them into casting White Wind on the party.
yah go figure, bout 5 min after someone saying stay by the save sphere, I warp to Omega Dungeon, and hit 3 parties in a row
