It's almost three years old anyway.
It's been done before, but hasn't been done too terribly often as the final boss.
Tales of Symphonia, (arguably since you can't actually defeat him) Final Fantasy IV, etc. etc..
Um, I think in Breath of Fire IV if you choose the bad ending you (SPOILER)fight the rest of your team. That counts I guess.

In (SPOILER)Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow if you get the 2nd ending you unlock a new mode where the final boss is the main character in the main game.
way to spoil it for me.... i wasnt that far from finishing it either.
That Black Knight guy or whatever his name his put himself as the last boss in his game.
