If you've beaten Ruby then getting a Gold Chocobo is easy. Take the Desert Rose to the Kalm Traveller and he'll exchange it for a Gold Chocobo.

Alternatively, you could breed one.

You should actully breed 1 because it will be a better racing class than the you will get off of the Kalm traveller and also when you are breeding you will get about 500-1000 gp from racing and a green,blue and black chocobo which is always nice to look at but for breeding you will need about 2million gil to buy the greens to get their stats up

you don't need 2million gil! i only needed 500,000 gil! all you havt to do is give each chocobo 10 sylkis greens( which u get from the chocobo sage)and then race them to get their stats up!

You only really need 5,000 gil to buy one Sylkis Green, then use W-Item to accumulate more.

10 greens won't max out a chocobo's stats. If you were to buy 99 Sylkis Greens and feed them to seven chocobos (the minimum amount you need), it'd cost 3,465,000 gil.
