    Default Concerning Image Acquiring Devices

How many of you have a scanner?
    a digital camera?

If so, plz share your types.

scanner: 4300C Hewlett Packard ScanJet. I've had it for five years and am wondering if it might not be time for a new one. Not seriously thinking though.

digicam: I steal my mother's because mine is four years old and teh major suck. Hers is a minolta dimage Z1. I love it. She keeps it on the automatic setting, but with a short perusal of the instruction booklet, I have figured out how to use the manual aperture+exposure settings and I adore it.

I think I have the same scanner as you. It won't even install on my Windows XP computer so I haven't used it in forever.

I only have a webcam, although I want to buy a proper digital camera. Do webcams count as digital cameras for the purposes of this poll?

pssy, use the MS scannera nd camera wizard

I was sad when I got xp that it wouldn't install from teh CD, but I find the wizard to work better. (I forget what the original thing was like) Run C:\WINDOWS\system32\wiaacmgr.exe with it hooked into usb, probably.

    Yes webcams count

Scanner is an HP PSC All-in-One. It's quite nice.

I have a sort of crappy digicam that I use, but my dad's got a really nice one that I don't actually know any of the tech specs of. But it's reeeeally nice.

I have a scanner, which I tenderly love. I wish I had a cam, but in Italy we say "the water is too shallow and the duck doesn't float" (=I don't have money).

Both do their job very well and are easy to use. I've already gone through one of my scanners, though - I used to have a Packard Bell Diamond 1200 Plus but it decided to crap out on one of the colours. Scanners are easy to replace these days, though. The digital camera I just bought this year, and while it was pretty expensive I got a few years warranty on it, so it's all good.

I have neither, because I can't be bothered with new fangled technology.

I'm becoming such a stiff in my old age.

5-area multipoint autofocus with 5-step manual focus and low-light AF illuminator; preflash metering; multipattern measuring checks 49 light-metering points for optimum exposure; auto bright monitoring

Burst mode takes up to 4 frames at 4MP at 0.7 fps; multiburst mode

Auto, daylight, cloudy, fluorescent, incandescent white balance controls to achieve natural tones under different lighting conditions; built-in auto flash with auto, forced on, forced off and slow synchro modes; red-eye reduction

I have some digicam I borrowed from my dad months ago and never gave back. It's a Sony DCS-P31 Cybershot, but honestly...I don't think it's that great. Unless flash is on, the picture quality is quite bad, and sometimes when flash is on it's too bright. xD Or maybe I'm just picky.

    No scanner.

I used to have a scanner but that went to crap on me. I've never had a digital camera, though I'd like one sometime in the future because of how useful it could be. Right now I've just got a webcam and my dad has a scanner at work. I need new pictures.
