Default Carding a Grat = Shumi Card

This happened to me last night. I carded the first grat I fought, which happened to be just past the "secret area" in the training centre, and I got a Shumi Card. Of course I continued to card every grat I fought, but they kept giving me grat cards after that.

Has this ever happened to anyone else? if so does anyone know the reason for it? Maybe its a glitch? I don't see how the programming in the game could be wrong in giving me that.

It's not a glitch, just a very rare card.

I got several Elvoret cards from either caterchipilars or bite bugs while gaining AP in a low level game. Tickled me pink and started my card pwning empire.

    I don't think it's nearly that rare.

i havent played it for ages but, i think if you push either L1 or R1 (cant remember what one) at the right time it increases your chances of getting a better card.

i used to get alot of those different cards by doing that

Pushing R1 triggers the gunblade's shot/explosion mechanism, nothing more.

It also works the same way with other characters' critical hit rate. It's much more difficult to do with other characters than it is to do with Squall, though.

Actually, I think the other character's critical hit attacks are just occasional random occurences, perhaps influenced by the Luck% stat.

Only Squall and Seifer can achieve a Critical Hit with the R1 trigger as theirs are the only weapons to have a trigger. All other characters get Critical Hits based on their Luck stat. Squall and Seifer hurt 150% normal damage when you pull the trigger while all other characters hurt 200% normal damage when they get a Critical.

Yes, thanks. Since my first post in this thread, I got a few more of those rare cards from low level enemies.

I think 1/256 may be a little much, considering I've gotten 3 or 4 in probably less than 200 fights.
