Ive heard they do more damage due to there high mind stat... im guessing my Taru will eventually suck T_T

MND is not attributed to black magic spells at all, it is attributed to White Magic potency(ie: Cures, but also ALOT more on Paralyze, Slow, Silence, Dia, Bar-spells, and other things like Banish) and Magic Defense(i think similiar to Shell, a generic m.def).

INT is attributed to Black Magic attacks and resistance of black magic spells. Your INT vs the monster's INT is calculated every time. However your Elemental Skill matters more in terms of general scheme. If priority has to be a concern it would be the stat: Elemental Skill => Magick Attack Bonus => INT.

Elvaan has the lowest INT, but the highest MND and STR.
Taru has the lowest STR, but the highest INT.

That being said, no matter what race, they cannot suck beyond a few points of damage. No one is going to complain about a BLM's race(its over that phase anyway) as long as you dont have crap gear.
