AND Tidus- Tee-dus

His name doesn't break any rules of English with this pronunciation. Consider the words 'Yahoo', 'Select' and 'Kiwi'. In the words, we find a consonant surrounded by two vowels. BUT, the first vowel does NOT use its long sound.

For the name to be pronounced 'Tie-dus', it would have to be spelled 'Tydus' or 'Taidus'. But 'Tidus' is clearly pronounced as if it were spelled 'Teedus'.
