If you can't do it, you can't do it. My Mum and I used to do this all the time, we'd run through a couple of seconds from the start of a song and see if we could name it. If you listen to music enough, you can do it pretty well - Gigs got a few already and has a few hunches that are in the right direction to top 'em off.
