Note: Not worth taking advice from anyone aside from those with American passports or those within the industry, as every country has it's own deal with travel. A lot of Australians have responded, and I'm pretty sure there is free travel between the countries only if you have a New Zealand or Australian passport, so that advice goes out the window for an American.
Looks like you got it sorted out anyway, Neel. This is more for people reading over this thread and thinking of jumping on the next flight to one of the countries.
One should always contact the government websites of countries you are travelling to, or some kind of forum dedicated to travel.
