Because they won't. They cancelled the last one. And there's a bad chance. Square enix has a bad habit of not creating sequels to a game that is not Final Fantasy...

Fan demand is strong enough that they'll probably get around to it sooner or later. I'd bank on "later," though.Resurrection was a fan project that rendered key scenes from the game in good-for-amateurs CG. Square Enix eventually issued the guys running it a Cease & Desist, but it has nothing to do with making a new game.
