According to the BradyGames strategy guide (at least the first edition one that I had) Sephiroth's Masamune is actually winnable in the battle arena, can anyone clarify this? It's been a while since I've read the strategy guide, and it was a long time ago. I think I remember it listed as one of the prizes, but I was never able to win it.

yeah, its just a mock item, like the tissue and 1/35 soldiers...
You win it in the speed square and not exact Masamune but "Masamune Blade".
3000pts-4999pts = Masamune Blade - Exact replica of Sephiroth's sword
It is kinda useless and take note you cannot equip it like Sephiroth does.

does the 1/35 soldiers item do anything? it says that there are 12 in set so i thought that if you got 12 of them they would do something but the most i ever got was four.

No, thy do nothing. Think of Masamuse Blade like some kind of tourist souvenir (remember that before he freaked out, Sephiroth was considered as an hero).
has anyone ever tried using the throw command with masamune blade or 1/35 soldiers?
