boost ???
I just recently started playing this FF, and I dont know how to use the boost command you can learn from your GFs.
1)does it automatically activate once you learn it, so in battle you dont do anything?
2) do you have to hold down a button while summoning it?
3) Or is it something different that i havent said?

Push select and you'll see the boost menu. Actually, select at any time in battle will hide the menu, so if you want to watch the GF summon animations without the bars in the way, you can do it that way.
Then, once you've selected, watch the cues for pushing Square [ ]
Alternative 2) hold the select button down and press square over and over again until you're fingers starts to bleed and you wish you were Michael Jackson.
Yep that's basically how you do it..I always thought boosting wasn't really that good anyway
Boosting not good? I take it you haven't used Eden yet...
Boosting can hurt you too. The number is the percentage of what it would normally do. Say Ifrit normally does about 500 HP of Damage. You mess up your boost at the last minute, so it goes back to 75. His attack only does 75% of what it normally does, so it'll do around 375 HP.
With Eden, the sequence is so long, that you can get it up to 250 (the maximum)
here's a challange... try boosting shiva to max...

geez...I don't even bother with other GFs, the sequences are too short to make much of a difference.
They make a difference when you can't hit enemies for anything?
in the end you only really should rely on cerberus, maybe eden if you're in a real fix
True. You need to junction. If you rely on GFs too much you'll have trouble when it's time to fight Adel.
That's what happened to me, I was using GFs to get through battles and then Adel wiped the floor with me so many times I gave up and started again.

My game never said anything about boosting in the manual or in the actual game...
How are you supposed to know this?
Internet or the in-game Tutorial, accessible from the main menu.
The GF thing happened with me when i fought adel the first time. Luckily you get lots of AP at that place.
Just a little hint: Always learn Junction and Refining abilities first (though you may need to learn some other abilities for some to be available.)
