I don't like using zanmato, I know it isn't but afterward, I feel like I've cheated. I beat everything leaving him as the last resort, 'If I don't do this it's game over thing.

i wont disagree with that. i feel so bad about using zanmato on nearly every boss when i got yojimbo. now i feel so cheap.
