That was a guess I was REALLY expecting, but it's not hoover/ zone eater. But it almost fits, 'cause you kinda have to let yourself "die" for it to work, but it doesn't lead you to "the first world you've seen", and it's not a one-way ticket. I suppose it takes a little patience, but not that much.

its not the 3 demon stooges because you actually have to beat them but then when you get to the castle, you fight wrexsoul and when you fight him, you actually have to let 1 of ur party members die then he appears again

Wrexsoul would fit most of it, and that was the second guess I was expecting to hear. But he doesn't lead you to the first world. So both of you are getting closer. Maybe you guys don't know the glitch. You want the answer? It's a really funny glitch in the snes version, here's another hint. If this doesn't give it away, then You probably don't know about the glitch. When the glitch is done DO NOT SAVE YOUR GAME. Or you'll be stuck (one-way ticket) in the WOB (first world you've seen)
