Tidus was there to represent the person playing. you start of as a novice playing the game just like Tidus is new to spira and as you go through the game and become better Tidus becomes more confident. I think he was a great character. But i would agree he dosent beat the likes of Squall Cloud and others.

for me Seymour was the annoying character in FFX he has to be one of the worst evil characters in FF, but thats my opinon
No matter what happens, isn't it important to try?
    Bugenhagen, Final Fantasy VII

No matter what happens, even if you become the world's enemy,
    I'll be your knight.

    Squall Lionheart (The promise),

No cloud, no squall shall hinder us...
    Marcus, Final Fantasy IX

This is it. This is your story. It all begins here...
    Auron, Final Fantasy X

    They are jealous!
    lol, perhaps they are

Squall wasn't artificial either. The proof is in how many people say they relate to him. Literally hundreds. Heck, at one time in my life I was like him, still am sometimes, depends on the situation. I didn't find Zidane artificial either. He was a player that liked to help people.....its kind of a weird combo but it is still a believable one.
As I stated earlier, I liked Tidus, it's just his voice that gets on my nerves
I wasn't referring to squall, I was reffering to characters like...and again, I may peeve some people off...Barret from FFVII or Armarant from FFIX. Don't get me wrong, I like Baret and all, but...He just seems a bit inhuman at times. As for Armarant, I just don't like him. He sucks as a playable character, and you don't get to know him well enough in game.
