I didn't really like this movie... I REALLY wanted to like it, but I couldn't... it's got to be the slowest movie ever made! And no, I wasn't expecting crazy action or anything like that. If the whole homosexual thing was taken out, this movie would be a VERY generic love story. I thought the first scenes on Brokeback, where they developed the bond, were okay, but after that... the movie not only slows to a crawl, but also just repeats the same scenes over and over again. Jack with his family. Ennis with his family. Jack and Ennis on Brokeback. Repeat again... and again... and again. Whenever they're together, they say the same things, argue about the same things, etc, etc. It got really old, really fast. I found myself not even caring about their relationship together. The only thing I was looking forward to in the movie was seeing their looks change as they aged... everything else was way too boring. And what's up with that opening?! Standing around for like 15 minutes, doing/saying nothing? That's ridiculous. I think this movie is highly overrated. People say it's not because it's about gay men, but I'm pretty sure it is. Like I said, remove the gay factor and this movie will fall flat on its face. There was no reason to make it so damn long and slow... the short story is only like...40 pages or something. How do you make that into a 2+ hour movie?!

Performances were good, though... but I also think Heath Ledger is overrated in this movie. He was good... but not THAT good. And he kept talking like he had a wad of gum in his cheek... that was wierd.

All in all... I didn't enjoy this movie... I didn't really care about the relationship between the two main characters, which was kinda the point of the movie. The pacing is way too slow, and it gets really repetitive. Bleh... Makes me sad since the buzz around this movie was so huge... I was SURE it was gonna be good.
