Default Problem with FFVII on new computer

I used to run the pc version of ffVII on my old pIII 450 dell.

I have now upgraded to my own new build, an amd 3000+ 1 gig memory, ati 9800 pro based system

Needless to say it has mor than enough power to run FFVII

    However, it is having troubles.
    1) it plays the movies upside down and inside out
    2) it won't recognize my graphics card, it makes me choose software renderer in the configuration
    3) when I try to play it just on that setting, it plays the movies, but they are block of disocloration and random lines, etc

any ideas? no problems with any other games, just ffVII

    treid reinstalling, same deal.

Most of the technology that FF7 PC uses is very outdated now. As a result, the game has trouble detecting features on the latest graphics chips. AFAIK, there isn't much you can do about it besides reinstalling the directshow filters and the duck truemotion video codec and making sure your video drivers are fully up to date.
