FFVII problems on new pc..tech help?

sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, new here...

I used to run the pc version of ffVII on my old pIII 450 dell.

I have now upgraded to my own new build, an amd 3000+ 1 gig memory, ati 9800 pro based system

Needless to say it has mor than enough power to run FFVII

However, it is having troubles.
1) it plays the movies upside down and inside out
2) it won't recognize my graphics card, it makes me choose software renderer in the configuration
3) when I try to play it just on that setting, it plays the movies, but they are block of disocloration and random lines, etc

any ideas? no problems with any other games, just ffVII

treid reinstalling, same deal. is it a direct x issue? soemthing else?

It could be a problem with your disk, or more likely, you've got the wrong graphics card. Do you have difficulties with any other games or is it just the FF7 FMVs?
