The NPC is not a 'wizard' type, but the other person with this skill IS Ramza!! Yes, somebody got part of the riddle right!! Good guess Sephiroth1112! That gets you one step closer to solving it, but there is a lot more to this riddle... The first step is always the most important. I think from here things are going to start making a lot more sense to everyone. Keep it up, guys! (...and Kain's_Girl )

Let's see...Ramza and Delita share the skill set Guts.

    Is it Scream?

EDIT: Ooops, that clue could be confusing. Allow me to rephrase it: The answer is something that some characters can use (in fact the riddle says just how many you'll see use it at the time), but it isn't an action any of your characters can take in the traditional sense. That's better. I hope it helps.
As Scream is an action that Ramza can take in the traditional sense, it is not the answer. You must think "outside the box" on this one. I'll say it again, the answer is not an action or spell.

The gooood news is that BG-57 has 'subconsciously' guessed another part of the riddle!! Yeayyy! Delita is the other person we see use this skill at the time referred to in the riddle. You must be getting very close now... Good luck, and God speed!

Is it their actual skill set, Guts?

    What does "it" refer to?
    Not their skill set either.

I have added the two lines that I originally thought would make the riddle too easy, as well as some punctuation. I hope this will help to get you thinking along the right lines. I'm looking for the "it" that is mentioned in what is now line 3 of the riddle. Remember this is not about a conventional battle skill, but something else. I hope this is enough of a hint for you. If not, I will start to break down each line for you soon.

I'm posting a reply without looking at your last post Despotus. It struck me in the middle of the night that Ramza and Delita share musical talent: they both can play using leaves or blades of grass!

EDIT: Hmm, my guess doesn't quite fit, but I'll keep it anyway.

You have no chance to survive make your time! Ha ha ha ha!

The scene in question has Delita and Ramza discussing Teta's kidnapping (the lost love), and his feelings of uselessness. Then they discuss the fact that Balbanes (he who's above) taught them to play the reed flute. Delita plays a solo on the reed flute and Ramza joins him in a more high-pitched tone and they play a duet together.

The identity of 'it' could still be several things, but since it's singular, I'm going to guess the music of their reed flute duet.

As darkness falls, = at sunset
Thoughts of a lost love. = thinking of Teta
From earth to sky it calls; = reeds grow in the earth, and the flute is played into the air
They remember he who's above. = remembering Balbanes who has gone to Heaven
One who is carried = Ramza is carried along by the events of the Lion War
And one who is driven, = Delita is driven by the events of the Lion War
Comparable but varied, = the pitch of their flutes varies slightly
Use a skill that was given. = they're both using a skill taught to them by Balbanes

    What does "it" refer to?
"It" refers to the reed flute. You got it, BG-57, your turn!!

    A 5-day riddle, not bad. *high-fives meself*

In real life, my FFT knowledge is unmatched by anyone I know.

Then I come to EoFF and people here make me feel as though I'm a newb to the game!

Seriously, it's crazy. IRL, everyone I know that plays FFT comes to me with their questions about how-to's, plotline, and anything else. But here, dang!

Not that it's a bad thing. I'm not upset or anything. It's just weird, that's all.

I see it this way: we're all a select group of people from around the world that happen to share a passion for a great but undervalued game. Kind of like a secret society, without the secrecy stuff.

    What was the motive?
    Jealousy most likely
    Ironies of ironies
    The tormentor
    Is more cold-blooded
    Than the victim

    Who are they?

Hail, Oromis, and welcome to our "secret society without the secrecy", EoFF! I hope you have an enjoyable time 'round these parts. Hey, I just noticed your birthday is the day before mine! And BG's is right around there too. Let's have a party in Gen. Chat in late Oct.!

As for BG-57's riddle, my guess would be Reis Dular for the victim and Priest Buremonda for the tormentor. Buremonda was envious (motive was jealousy) of the love between Reis and Beowulf, so he (SPOILER)cast a spell to change Reis into a dragon (Reptiles are cold-blooded) and had Beowulf branded a "heretic". That seems to me to be even more cold-blooded than a reptile. Ironic? I'd say so.

Welcome to EoFF, Oromis Finiarel! You gotta watch out for those Halloween babies!

Despotus, you are correct! Buremonda and Reis are the two in question. Incidently, the whole Buremonda/Reis/Beowulf subplot is ripped wholesale from Ladyhawke. An excellent movie, all told, but the 80's synthesizer soundtrack is quite dated now.
