Grin I'd like a duel monitor agp card -- 256 megs. Suggestions?

What else needs to really be said? Well I'm partial to ATI products. And I don't need state of the art, but I would like 256 meg vid card (I would go for the radeon 9800 but it's 128 meg and my last 128 meg card wasn't good enough for me).

If you don't need massive 3D speed you could try a Geforce FX 6600 256MB. If you want at least a fair amount of speed, try an FX 6800GT 256MB. There's not much reason to be partial to Ati these days anyway, unless you are buying a PCI-Express Radeon x1x00 series. (anything older doesn't have Shader Model 3.0)

His sig is a randomly generated signature(at least I think it is). I had one at fools gold...but now I am too lazy to make one for here with enough images >_<

What do you want the card to do? You could always wait another year when 256 Megs of RAM will be the low while 512 will be the high...I think it will happen because they have been at 256 for a few years now.

I have 128 6600GT and it works great for me.

Yeah, it is. Sometimes it even has messages about the topic you are reading. Just a another little thing to code out of boredom.

Off topic. I actually just saw it change on the fly for the first time ever. Everytime I have ever seen your sig it has always been one unchanging image. I thought it was just randomly generated before hand.

Oh, it is randomly generated when the image is requested from my server. It doesn't change after the page has finished loading. It may seem like it though if my server is a bit sluggish at responding.

I just want two monitors so I can fool around and have that option. Plus it's nice to be able to game on one and chat on the other without having to alt-tab.

I'll do some testing before hand because this t42 thinkpad has a monitor support for duel screens and I want to see if games like RO (which prevents you from moving your mouse out of the screen) will be affected by the mouse moving from screen A to B. Stuff like that.

Alternatively I could just get a pci vid card used. Would probably be cheaper in the long run. Thoughts?

If you can live with the reduced performance of a PCI card, then yes, that's a valid choice.

Extremely reduced performance. With a weak proc and GPU you might find it hard to watch a DVD on a monitor, especially if you're spanning at a high resolution.

I would say the the PCI bus is even more the limiting factor, running at only 133MB per second.
