I figured that more people would like the prototype... what is why?

    Well there's 2 considerations.

    1) The prototype has really bad English in it. It somehow manages to be worse than FFVII's translation.

    2) There's a sort of ethos of "fan translation always > official" in most import ROM players that I know.

The GBA translation is the best one, and it's official. Preferring the prototype is like choosing the original translations of FFI and FFIV over their respective revisions, but it's even worse because the prototype script is about ten times more broken than either of those. Which is saying a lot.

The GBA translation did a lot of things right that shoulda been done right the first time around. For example: Guy is named Guy. This isn't all that difficult.

Yeah, but the spells have better names... it's just the dialouge that's bad...

Judging by a total lack of proper English use in either version, I'd use neither.
