I think it should be broken into generations, cuz its hard to compare an 8bitter to someone in flawless 3D such as FFX
First Gen- Sabin all the way. I dont think I've ever completed FFVI without having him in my main party. Hes stupidly powerful (huge vigor + offering + genji glove hello?), and the whole Figaro brother storyline had me locked since the first time I saw it
Second Gen-its so hard to pick. I loved Cid in VII tho, his general attitude was the most entertaining to watch than any other in that game lol
Cid is best summed up the first time you meet him.

Make fun of him all you want, but he was just some normal fellow (basically anyway) tossed into extreme circumstances, and I think he handled it pretty dang well.
