Default Do you still pronouce things wrong even though you KNOW?

I've found I do as I'm used to what I thought

I know that it's "Tee-dah" for example but when I read it I often find myself saying "Tide-uss" and I dunno why... The same goes for Cid I still pronounce it "Sid"

A strange one though is when I was younger and was reading stuff about FFVII (My first FF) and when I got it I kept say Midgar as it had soft "G"... Like "Midd-jar" or something.

Obviously I soon realixed it was wrong. But Even to day when I play FFVII on my on I somtimes say "Midd-jar"....

It's supposed to be pronoucned "Seed" which sets up a joke in FFVIII. By all means still call him "Sid" if you want. After all - I do.

I always thought Cid was "sid". It just sounds blatantly incorrect any other way.

Same goes for Tidus. ("Teedus" sounds silly)

Cid will always be Sid to me and Tidus will always be tie-dus

If Cid is meant to refer to El Cid, it would come out El Seed in Mexican Spanish, El Theed in Castilian Spanish, and just El Sid in English.

Midgar was a slight mistranslation of Midgard. I'm not sure how the Norse said it, but I say it with a hard G sound.

I say Tidus as Tide-us, like the book of the Bible (Titus), but with a D.

Pronunciation isn't consistent, even within a given language. Look at regional accents. I say live and let live when it comes to saying names out loud.

Yeah, Tidus is tie-dus, Midgar and Cid never really bothered me though...

I pronounce Tidus as 'Tee-dus' like it should be, but thats only because I found out the true pronounciation way before I got the game. I've gotten used to it now and prefer it over 'Tie-dus'. Tie-dus is much too predictable being water and all. Midgar I've always pronounced like
Midget - 'Mij-er'. Cid is Sid for me aswell.
One name that I don't understand why people pronounce differently is Tifa. I thought it was pretty damn obvious when the game was first released that it was 'Teef-ah', mainly because of the lack of another 'F' to make the 'I' sound short. Even in Japanease the 'I' is pronounced as an 'E' sound. Countless people seem to call her 'Tiff-ah' like Tiffany.

Interesting to note.. I always pronounced it Tee-dus, even before I heard it spoken. Good guess, I suppose.

And the pronunciation of Cid as "seed" is news to me. Especially since Cid is a real English name.

Pronounced Cid as "sid" isn't incorrect. The Japanese just have the Cid/SeeD joke going because they don't have short I-sounds.

But in FFX I recall his name said as "Sihd" rather than "Seed"
