I'm a bit of a power-whore, and like all other FFs, I tend to go with all out raw power. Hence, by the end of the game I was using:

Zidane
Amarant
Steiner
Freya

And I'd swap Vivi for Freya when black magic is necessary. As someone mentioned earlier, once you get Auto-Regen, curing isn't as necessary, especially in the final battle. It always annoys me that the typical white mage, such as Eiko and Dagger have weak physical attacks, and are sometimes just left waiting for the need for someone to be healed.

Ozma will automatically do a turn when you select a command. So it's not going to be just two turns...

Anyway, I always use Eiko, Vivi, and Quina. Pretty MP hungry, but I love 2 X Reflect and Blue Magic. And White Magic. I'd probably put Garnet in if Vivi wasn't so awesome. I also liked using Freya, depending on my mood.

Zidane: Heh, I used that line-up too, but that's because 1) Zidane and Garnet side-by-side, 2) I couldn't stand the idea of Kuja being able to drop Garnet in a pit of lava whenever he wanted. Call me weird.

Oh, and btw: any character in FFIX can do easily 9.999 damage (if not by boosting magic (Boost for summons, Focus for magic), Might for strenght^^)

In Olievert it doesn't matter- everyone dies exceppt for zidane in my party, so u can go wit magic ppl, it's just that Zidane will do all the work, and that's not good. If yr planning on taking Dagger, then at least take freya and steiner with you. In the desert palace, it will be eiko, quina, vivi and amarant, so its some of both worlds.

In Oeilvert, just attack, and equip Auto-Regan.

In Desert Palace, attack with Amarant, use Vivi's most powerful Black Magic and Eiko's Healing Magic in Battle. Dagger's pointless as she can never consentrate, so just use her too heal after Battle.

My personal favorite party is : Zidane(because i don´t have a choice);
Amarant( because ke kicks ass and has pretty decent power and his also faster than Steiner); Vivi( because his magic is truly destructive and effective); Eiko( i like to summon Mog and she is just as good at healing as Dagger)
