It doesn't matter. Anyone that believes that because an authour is male that his book is automatically better than any female's, is a jerkoff. This thread borders on the line of sexism...nice too see something in The Lounge where I don't have to post a fricking list.
I don't really care...but all the books I've read to date are all by males, but I don't really care if there female or male who write them
Depends completely on the book. I've read good books from both male and female authors.
I mostly seem to read male authors. Thats just cause of the books I read.

I don't see how it's logical to have a preference. Different styles of writing have nothing to do with gender, it's a matter of voice. I discovered this while reading The Farseer Trilogy, by Robin Hobb. It's a story about a bastard prince being kept in the shadows to become a royal assassin of sorts. I was floored when I found out Robin Hobb is a chick. That taught me that not only does gender not matter, but also that you can't always know for sure what an author's gender is. There's no telling who the person behind the pseudonym is.

I just want to point this out for the second time. In no way am I saying whether a book is good or not based on the author's sex. I am not saying that. What I am saying is do you tend to enjoy books written by males or by females more often. I decided to make a thread like this after observing that I tend to read novels by female authors more often, and I tend to enjoy them more. I am not saying that females write better than males or anything of the sort, so please stop taking it that way.
The sex of the author doesn't matter to me. The sex of the main character used to matter to me. I wasn't able to get into books where a girl was the main character, because I couldn't identify with them. Not anymore, though. A strong main character has qualities that can be identified in both sexes.

I don't care who wrote the book/fanfic/manga. It's the gender of the protagonist that matters to me. I often have trouble reading books where a woman is the main character. It's not that I'm sexist or anything, far from it in fact, but I just have trouble relating to female lead characters.
You have a real problem with gay people, don't you?
