I don't see how it's logical to have a preference. Different styles of writing have nothing to do with gender, it's a matter of voice. I discovered this while reading The Farseer Trilogy, by Robin Hobb. It's a story about a bastard prince being kept in the shadows to become a royal assassin of sorts. I was floored when I found out Robin Hobb is a chick. That taught me that not only does gender not matter, but also that you can't always know for sure what an author's gender is. There's no telling who the person behind the pseudonym is.
