Yes, after you summon and the battle menu comes up, you must select an action for your character to perform for them to do anything else in battle.

...did you wait for the atb bar to fill up again?

It could be something to do with the fact that you're using a NTSC game in Newcastle. Go get a PAL version.

ps my playstation is chipped there is no need to go and get the PAL version ,plus i dont want to start again,so i will dl anohter american version

Some things like this happened when I played FF8 on my friend's dusy ol piece o' crap playstation. The PS would only read the disc when it wanted to, or when I smacked the side of it with my hand.

Im serious, when the game starts to freeze, or looks like it isnt loaded all the way, lightly tap the side of your PS with you hand. It should get the CD to skip and load the scene ( or whatever your doin ).

    Best of Luck!

Reason I'm asking if you have played any other NTSC games is that it might be your mod chip. Play other NTSC games and see if you get the same effect.

my modchip hmmm,i think it's the CD myself cos it didnt work on another modded machine either

Try out another CD on your machine to make sure it's not the mod chip. Until you try out another CD on your machine you can't verify if the mod chip is working properly.
