...ah...Final Fantasy VIII...my favorite game in the WHOLE UNIVERSE!!!:kaohappy2 I agree 100%, it was VERY special. I played VIII first, so that may be why I am more attached to it than other FF games and as I said in another thread, I believe the first Final Fantasy you play will always have a special place in your heart, and FFVIII DEFINETLY does for me!!! :kaolove: I can't even put into words the emotions I felt while I played that game, and what made it even more special was that my sister and I both played it together, and were able to spend quality time together in doing something we both enjoyed, and were swept into its magic together.
...FFVII on the other hand was NOWHERE close to being as good as FFVIII. I hardly liked any of the characters, the storyline was confusing, the graphics really sucked, I didn't feel ANY of those same emotions and magic as I did when I played FFVIII, and my sister also agreed. I personally thought that FFX and Kingdom Hearts were WAAAY better than FFVII, and I really think that it's CRAZY how they can put "Quite possibly the greatest game ever made." on the back of FFVII. ...because we all know Final Fantasy VIII should have had that statement on THEIR cover!!!

The storyline to 7 is rather simple, but you failed to complete all of the game (i.e. you didn't go to Lucrecia's waterfall) so parts of it were left out. Unlike 8, all of the characters were developed to an extent. All of them had their own unique persona unlike 8 who's characters (especially Quistis) lacked a personality. By the way, 8's character Squall was said to have been modeled after Cloud. And both of them are VERY similiar (personality wise) so I think that's true. And the whole quote on the back of the game...7 isn't the greatest game ever made neither is 8. Until Square makes an rpg that doesn't rival any of their othert rpg's then that won't happen. Besides your only real agruement as to why 7 was crap is because the graphics were horrible. 8's weren't that great either (only in the FMV's) but that's okay...it was a while ago. They didn't have the same technology they have now. Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy X have nothing to do with what the person asked by the way.

To back you up.Some people say that FF6 is there favourite game. For an RPG like FF you dont need graphics to make it great.Just a good storyline and FF7 has that.

they both have elements that were great, and both are undoubtably amongst the greatest games ever made anyway!!!! but 8 for us europeans lacked something as you couldnt do anything with the chocobos!!!! they are an integral part of the ff world!!!!! plus drawing sucked, and materia rocked !!!!!!

Even though most people here would be partial to Final Fantasy 8 over most other games in the series, I think we've all gone through enough of these threads and arguments to realize that there really is no point to them.

Personally, I prefer Final Fantasy 8 over any other game ever created. One could write a book about the game's extraordinary features, but suffice it to say that the combination of its music, storyline, character relations, and seemless cut scenes interlaced throughout gameplay make FF8 simply fantastical to experience.
ur probably right but I was just curious...

You understood FFVIII, yet you found FFVII's story confusing? It's completely opposite for me. FFVII was simple to understand, yet FFVIII made very little sense. Of course, I might have been too bored to pay attention...

Also, I hate FFVIII's graphics. But then I like primitive graphics (Like FFVI), so I guess I'm not a proper judge.

...even if I did see the waterfall scene, I doubt it would have changed my mind about FFVII, and it wasn't that important because it wasn't even a REQUIRED scene!!! And that's your opinion if you think FFVII storyline was simpler, but for me it was a bunch of unimportant chaos that meant nothing to me. :kaodizzy: Also, my argument for not liking FFVII was not only the sucky graphics. Maybe if you fully read my post, you will see that I said in addition to the graphics, that I didn't like the characters, and I felt NO EMOTION!!! :kaoindif:And I totally disagree with you on FFVIII's characters lacking personality. (except for the Quistis thing) Believe me, if you think FFVII's characters had personality, then FFVIII DEFINETLY had that AND MORE!!! :kaoangry: I know its the FFVIII thread, & I mentioned FFX & Kingdom Hearts because I thought they were better, and was just using them as a comparison. Jeez...don't be so critical!!! Final Fantasy VIII KILLS FFVII ANY DAY!!! :kaofight:

You're telling me not to be critical when you say that 8 was the best game ever made and that everything else fails in comparison. You say don't be so critical yet you slam a game that made more money than 8 (which is 7 by the way) and will be remembered to this day as one of the greatest rpg's ever made. You're contradicting yourself saying that 8's characters had depth then say the Quistis lacked personality. And there would be no Squall without Cloud. I liked 8, but seriously...the whole thing was extremely cliche. Oh I'm anti-hero without any emotions who falls in love with in a matter of 2 seconds and became her knight in shining armor. Bah...a bunch of teens with issues. Boring! Just because you played 8 first doesn't mean it's the best. You haven't even played enough FF's to know what is the best one out of the whole series so you can not say that it is the best. I don't really think there is a best Final Fantasy, because all of them have a unique flair to them. And some just suck...whereas others whether you like it are not are groundbreaking. Which 7 is. I hope that answers the question of the thread starter. To never ask a question like that in an FF forum.

The story in FF7 was'nt very good... I found it to be this: A young warrior from a futuristic city who chases a guy with a long sword around the world on wild goose chase. Along the way he meets friends like: An indian tiger, an annoying chick that finally dies, and a stuffed moogle...

i didnt find the plot twisters heart pulling by any means.

Ok, the thing is I played FF8 first. When I played FF7, I was disappointed to discover all the rave and rejoicing it got was undeserved.

FF7 may have been good for 1997. But now, It doesnt compare.

Those are my opinons. Dont get me wrong, Cloud and Sephiroth were cool, but not as cool or developed as the cast of FF8 and 9.

These are simply my own opinions...
