chaos: I sort of like Final Fantasy VIII better. It really doesn't start off as depressing, so you can feel more into it.

Rubedo: Storyline wise though, they're either tied, or FFVII takes the ball.

Cloud - wimpy, confusing, irritating

Aeris - just a pain in the ass (thank GOD she died!!!)

Tifa - she was okay

Barret - had a pissed off attitude, but mostly no personality

RedXIII - was cool but again, hardly any personality

Cait Sith - was kinda just there

Yuffie - theif, annoying, especially when she stole our materia

Cid - cursed a lot, I guess he had some personality...

Rufus - eh...

Scarlet - hated her guts, more than Aeris

Sephiroth - was cool until he turned into a psycho killer

Turks - only characters I actually liked aside from Tifa, especially Reno

A GIGANTIC prercentage of the FFVII characters had NOTHING, there was NOTHING to them, they were just BARELY ALIVE!!! Ha, FFVII cast had basically NO background history!!! Just admit it, FFVIII HAD SO MUCH MORE!!!

2. I said Ultimecia pocessing people was surprising. No kidding we had to defeat a sorceress...:rolleyes2

4. Come on...the FFVIII ending was the best ending out of ALL THE FF GAMES!!! FFVII was one of my least...it was alright, extremely predictable...:kaoindif: I guess it was the best they could do with such a weak story.

I don't mind debating with FFVIII fans, but no way am I responding to that if you aren't even going to argue properly.

At least FFVII characters had different backgrounds, while FFVIIIs cast were virtually the same.

FF7's character Vincent had a whole secret background which proves right there that atleast one character had a background, but it wasn't just one. Sephiroth, Cloud, Marlene's real father, Barret, Red XII, Hojo, Lucrecia just to name a few all had backgrounds.

The only FF8 characters who had a background besides the story with the ophranage was Squall, Rinoa, Laguna, Ellone and Raine.

That's basically what I said, so I guess you agree with me then. :grinpink: I already stated that Ellone, Laguna, etc. had backgrounds so do most of the characters in 7 get over it. 8 is not superior. By the way that isn't called contridiction. *Hands dictionary* It's fact. People and Square decided that 7 was the best. I just liked it and I happen to like 8 too. I just like 7 more, because it has more to offer and it's a groundbreaking rpg. That's why Square is spending their money trying to milk all the success (7 has brought them) dry.

I COMPLETELY AGREE. As far as I am concerned, Final Fantasy VIII was the best in the series and quite possibly the greatest creation in the department of fiction. For me, this is FACT, not opinion, IMO.

I would have to say the FFVII story line was in some ways depressing, like cloud, barret, and the others characters background. But FFVIII was a litttle bit less depressing, but.........i dunno, i think them both the same. There still my favorite games though.
