I'm not sure what good that message is. I guess theoretically something could be damaged but pretty much everything about your character is saved server side and NOT on your computer.

My computer overheats and shutsdown in XP a lot. Also my stupid ISP cuts me off for 15 minutes here and there with no warning. I've Ctrl+Alt+Deleted out of my game even with windower by giving it a hard shutdown. Almost everytime I'm on and maintenance is coming up I stay until it force DCs me.

Now... after all of these shuts downs over a 2 year period I've never ever ever ever experienced any kind of noticable rollback. Hell I've had it happen to me and came back a level higher because I got enough XP in the 30 seconds before the server DC'd me to hit my next level.

The only 'character damage' I've ever encountered was that I've had 1 or more complete macro rows deleted but I've never lost a piece of gear or lost a noticable amount of XP.

This type of roll back simply CANNOT happen. The only way would be for someone to log on to your character just to die and HP a lot. Even in that situation they would have to be dedicated. You would have to die around 60 times to lose that amount of XP.

Also another note... don't wanna be rude and perhaps your method of play is enjoyable to you but you'll never progress to enjoy anything more about the game if you continue start over. Why is making up 6 level so hard that you have to start over... um ... starting over means you have to make up

32 level for your main
all the levels for your sub
all of the skills you may have aquired
all of the gil you need to make
all of the scrolls you learned
all of the items to do the subjob quest

Starting over every time will eventually lead to you leaving the game in the future with a bitter taste in your mouth.

So many people write reviews about this game after having not even gotten their subjob or not making it out of the dunes. You can't really judge this game. I fear you will be one of these people if you never experience any of the true meat of the game due to your obsessive-restarts.

However, I suppose if you enjoy leveling through the dunes and dealing with the same stuff that tends to actually be the worst part of the game over and over then to each his/her own.
