How old is your PS2? Are you getting something called "Disc Read Error" If this is the case, there's probably nothing you can do. My first PS2 started doing this and only got worse. I eventually had to buy a new one.

It sounds like your PS2 is the problem. Maybe you can take it in to a repair shop or something of the sort, or perhaps get a new one.

PS2's are exactly known for their reliability.

It just sounds like the PS2 and it's general tomfoolery.

    Default PS2 ails

Try one or both of 2 things---1. get a laser lens cleaning disk at your local electronics store, or 2. take your hosehold vacuum, attatch the upholstry cleaning part, and vacuum the back of your PS2 (where the fan is). I do this once a month with my PS2 and it hasn't given me any grief sinse.

search for a guide on opening up the ps2 it sounds like your laser just needs cleaned the best but most difficuilt way is to open it up and wipe it with a camera lense cleaner thing with a dab of lens cleaner fluid.

thats it your ps2 gives you disc read errors fixed mine right up

how loud is the sound it makes? if its very loud it could be the lense motor packing up.

my ps2 was doing dre erros with a brand new game ages ago so i cleaned the laser my self and it works perfect now. justbe carful and dont touch any capacitors if you do you could be electrocuted.

Unplugging it from the mains would also make messing about with the circuitry much safer.

thats wrong the capacitors can hold electric current for weeks or months after been disconected from the mains.

Yeah, but you're no longer connected to 240V of electricity.

yeh true oh and also be very careful about opening the ps2 top of it its attatched on a very thin ribbon lead to the power buttons on one side well attactched to the base part of the unit and the lead is very short so be very very careful when opening it break the lead and u will probly need a new ps2
