I see no reason for it not to continue for as long as SquareEnix are a company. The whole point is that each game is basically a new game that can stand alone. There will always be new ideas and new stories. All they need to do is attach those stories to the franchise.

well, considering they plan on making Crystal Chronicles a series continued on the DS and Revolution, and so far they have one CC game, I can see FF lasting a good while longer. Just because I don't think the main line of FF would die before CC line, even though the CC line just started...

They are still making new Donkey Kong and Mario games to an extent so why not Final Fantasy?
The only reason Square is alive today is because of Final Fantasy.
And my answer is 'as long as it sells.'
If Final Fantasy XX is a terrible game with no story or originality, but it sells 2 million copies, then we will see a Final Fantasy XXI.
I think it will run as long as it is profitable.

Well due to the fact that they don't even come out with a new game every year, I believe the number will never be larger than the actual year it is released, so you're expecting FF to continue for the next million years.....
