I am not sitting in my own filth when I bathe, because I could not possibly be described as filthy in the true sense of the word, when I get a bath. If you are geniunely filthy, then yes, you should take a shower instead. But most people bathe everyday, an aren't getting in the bath covered in filth. So there will be nothing in that bath worse than what they are covered in permanently anyway.
