UK Meet-Up 2006

Feeling in the mood to point something else out that makes the trip costs fairer to the group as a whole. If you do want a private room (like myself and Kitten) it is only fair that you pay for that room yourself, it's £70 or so I believe. The reason for you paying the full room fee is obviously because the rest of the people staying over are not sharing that room with you and your girlfriend. (and yes before people ask or anything I have stated quite clearly that I will be the one paying for mine and Kitten's room. Zorrander check your e-mail and you will see one from me)

And I am supposed to be sorting out getting the train with Phantom XD so I must put his question down to him being drunk? He doesn't live (that) far away from me and said he could get to Salisbury train station (where I'm going from) in time (I'm getting the 6.45 am to get there at 9.45 - yes I wanna try and get there before everyone else). He did mention something about driving to get there, I assumed he drove himself (is he over 18), didnt think he meant having to get a taxi that far.

PhantomXD, if you dont drive, can you get the train to Salisbury that early? If you find a train station of decent size that is near you (not a tiddily village one) they normally have very early trains.

Ok, well the Holiday inn didn't have any rooms for the night. Neither did alot of other hotels (at least, none i'm going to bother spending money on) But thankfully, The one we went to last time, Britannia hotel, has rooms, AND they have lowered their prices. Last time i looked it was about £111 per room, NOW it's more like £49 for a doubble, single or twin. I rung them and asked about it, they said it's cheeper to book online as i'm doing, and they say they have tripple rooms available, even though i can't see em' on the screen. So, i'm going to call em' tomorrow and see if i can get a deal on tripple rooms, unless we want to cheat like we did last year and have some people sleeping on the floor (this will also make things a bit cheeper.
Kitten, Lasuria, you'r room will be a doubble, that's ONe big bed for the two of you unless you say otherwise, and it'll be £49. I could book either 2 twin rooms and have 3 people on the floor, or i could book 3 twin rooms and have 1 person on the floor, but then again, my friend may not come so aither way is fine. I can book three twin rooms so we all get a bed, BUT it'll then cost us £25 each. If you want it cheeper, two twin rooms, with a coupple of people on the floor/sleeping bags, it'll be £16 each. It's up to you. I'm happy to give up a bed and sleep on the floor if it means i save £9.

So, i'm calling them tomorrow to see about 2 tripple rooms and a doubble, a tripple being cheaper than 2 twins...

Then i'll book on Monday.

PM me personaly if you have any objections or if you're happy to crash on the floor, as well as posting it here. We're almost done with this thing!

I see people noticed my deliberate attempt to avoid responsibility for under-age-ers. Yes, it is legal. However, those who are 18 and with the group should a under-ager drink YOU ARE ALL RESPONSIBLE. If their parents get them, not only will I be screwed over, but so WILL YOU because you take responsibility. But we're not their parents, and therefore shouldn't have to take reponsibility. It's like under 18 people playing GTA. If I let my son play it, and his friend comes around and plays it then I take responsibility for that kid. It's not against the law, but it CAN annoy their legal guardians. Which I'm trying not to do.
I'm sorry, but I'm not willing to do babysit. You come at your own risk.

£210 for 3 rooms.
11 people staying...

210 DIVIDE 11 = 19.09 = £19.09

2.I don't care that "you do what you like". The rules have been made clear SINCE THE BEGINNING. If you are under 18, YOU NEED PARENTAL PERMISSION TO COME AND FOR THE HOTEL. This is definite. I'm not gonna sway on this. If your girlfriend is under 18, she'll need it too. If you think I'm being hard, all the under-aged people are doing this. Another point to raise here is that if you mess me or kagga around here then you will ruin it for EVERYONE.

Why? Because no one will risk another one. The world is such that laws and Human Right laws are prominent. Without permission, it risks SO many libel suits that it won't be worth doing another one for a long time. The site's name will be tarnished and you'll ruin my life and anyone connected with this.
Are you willing to do that? If so, your heart's made of tougher stuff than mine.

-If you ARE 17 and you wish to stay the night in Birmingham, then we (as meet-up organisers) DEMAND that you inform your parents of your intentions BEFORE. As well as this, we say that when appropiate (if possible) you CALL your parents/guardians during the meet-up to confirm this. Because you are not legally responsible for yourself, we must make sure that those who are allow your prescence here. I understand that in some cases you would rather they did not know you were out. That's okay. Just say you're out with some friends (I did). They may have to talk with one of us, just to be sure you're not just saying.

Finally:

Is best IMO. If you can't do this:

Sorry about that. I was just pre-empting their descision. However, I forgot to take this in context with my outburst. We don't know if they're allowed to come, taken they need permission (BOTH OF THEM) so I don't think you should book a room fro them. We'll be left with a spare room which adds unesccary cost for others. So I think you should just book the rooms for the group and the room for Lasuria & kitten. If they are ALLOWED to come, they can sort it out themselves. I'm sure we could buy the room, but they'll have to sort it out through you. And even if they don't want a seperate, they'll still need a new room cause:

I refuse to go back on my word. It would be TOO many per room sleeping "wrongly" for them to share. I realise I may be speaking of them as "different" but I'm tired and not very well considering my usual plucky self.

cloud_vivi? Still want a hotel? Either get back here before zorander's deadline or sort it out with/out him yourself. I'd rather you did it not using him (Cause he's done so much and he's great.) but since we're all so helpful here, I'm sure we'll be able to help you.

Ok, well if you havn't passed by then I'd have a look at trains instead, like I said I'm sure if you find your nearest decent size train station you can sort getting to Salisbury in time. Might aswell check now on national rail enquires. I've allready sorted out what train I'm getting.

Any idea on arrivel times? I was thinking around 10am-ish? Or 10-11am so it gives people time in case of late trains etc (*Curse you trains! CURSE YOOOOOOOOOOOOOU!!*)Trains can be a pain in the bum.

My train leaves Derby at 9:24am and arrives at 9:54am. So I'll be there for around 10am. Anyone who arrives before then, ring or text your team leader or if you get lost.

I'm going to bring a packed lunch (ooooh, feels like I'm back at school ). We'll prob have lunch at a McDonalds or Burger King (because it's cheap and lot's of people can fit) and then prob eat again at 6-7ish for tea at some place. We'll prob sort out stuffs like that on the day xD

Plus Baloki (<3) has booked his train ticket and is defo going! Yay!
