The answers are Red Giant and the corpse. The Red Giant is the obnoxious braggart (about the uselessness of physical attacks) and the corpse is the quieter one who is more helpful because of the key it holds.

I nearly had it. Well there was a little problem. I played the PAL FFVII there the Red Giant is called Wolframator. *Have to learn all names in english*
