Mr. Monkey is one of my favorite characters in the game! But it's not his forest.

Yay, I know. The answer is Mordred plains.

The realm of the dark knight
Mordred refers to the knight from the time of King Arthur. Wikipedia quote:
"Mordred or Modred (Welsh: Medraut) is a legendary figure of Britain, known in Arthurian legend as a notorious traitor who fought King Arthur at the Battle of Camlann, where he was killed and Arthur fatally wounded."

    No monument to his glory
Well, there are no signs or monuments of Mordred, apart from his name.

Just a lot of lost minions
The lost minions are the stones that don't mean anything.

    And an untrustworthy guardian
This is the red stones; they are untrustworthy because they tell the exact opposite of the truth.

It looks to me like you're being narrow-minded
The riddles on these forums are often deep and clever, with references to real life or legends, with synonyms, antonyms, anagrams and God knows what. It's seldomly easy.

You are correct Rantzien! Your go.

I'm sorry Owen Macwere, your description was accurate, but I needed the name of the place.

    ^^

    "Lo and behold",
    Ol' Laguna says to Ellone.

    "If I were you,
I'd give in for my age
    in a previous world,
    without Elle."

Well, let's get Miss Obvious out of the way first. Is it Raine?

Is it Dr Odine? - Laguna's on a search to find Elle after she gets kidnapped, Dr Odine's purpose is to keep Elle under watch as she is Ultimecia's target. Maybe Dr Odine says to Laguna that he should get used to Elle not being around as she is a danger to the world?
    I'll figure it out later...

It's not Squall, Edea or Dr. Odine.
I'll give a hint to eliminate the usual guesses: The answer is not a character.
